Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour) (for healthier option)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
  • ¾ cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Toppings

  • 1 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup pepperoni slices (optional)
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal (for dusting)

Instructions 

  • Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast; let foam for 5-10 minutes.
  • Add flour, olive oil, and salt; knead until smooth, then let rise for 1 hour.
  • Punch down dough, divide into 8-10 pieces, shape into hearts, and rest for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 475°F, place shaped dough on parchment with cornmeal, and bake for 12-15 minutes.
  • Spread sauce, add cheese and toppings, then bake until golden and bubbly.
  • Finish with Parmesan and basil; cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes
