A deliciously moist cinnamon bread with a sweet cinnamon sugar topping, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce or vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk or milk with vinegar

Topping

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two loaf pans.
  • Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Beat sugar and eggs, then add applesauce and vanilla. Combine with buttermilk.
  • Gradually add dry mixture to wet, then divide batter into pans. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over each.
  • Pour remaining batter over toppings, swirl gently. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
