A warm and comforting dessert featuring tender baked apples infused with cinnamon and vanilla, topped with butter.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 6 large apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into small chunks)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine water and cornstarch to make a slurry; set aside.
  • Place sliced apples in a baking dish, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. Drizzle with slurry and mix. Top with butter chunks.
  • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, stir, and bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes until tender.
  • Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or serve with a drizzle of caramel sauce.
