Ingredients

Flatbreads

  • 4 pieces Flatbreads (naan, pita, or thin crust pizza bases)

Sauce

  • 0.25 cup BBQ Sauce (your favorite smoky, sweet, or spicy variety)

Meat

  • 1 pound Beef Sausage (pre-cooked or raw)

Cheese

  • 1.5 cups Shredded Cheese (mozzarella, sharp white cheddar, or smoked gouda)

Vegetables

  • 1 small Red Onion (thinly sliced)

Pickling Liquid

  • 0.5 cup Vinegar (apple cider, white, or rice vinegar)
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar (for pickling)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt (for pickling)

Garnish

  • to taste Fresh Cilantro or Parsley (for garnish)

Other

  • as needed Olive Oil (for brushing flatbreads and cooking sausage)

Instructions 

  • Slice red onion thinly and pickle in hot vinegar mixture for 30 minutes.
  • If raw, cook sausage in olive oil until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush flatbreads with olive oil and spread BBQ sauce.
  • Distribute sausage, sprinkle cheese, and bake for 8-12 minutes until bubbly.
  • Top with pickled onions and herbs, then slice and serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a drizzle of BBQ sauce after baking.
