A quick and flavorful stir-fry combining tender beef with crisp broccoli in a savory sauce.
Ingredients
Meat

lb
flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
(Coat with 1 tsp cornstarch and 1 tsp soy sauce for marinating)
Vegetables
1
lb
broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
Oils & Sauces

tbsp
vegetable or avocado oil, divided

tbsp
low-sodium soy sauce

tbsp
brown sugar
1
tbsp
sesame oil
1/2
tsp
black pepper

tbsp
cornstarch
(Used for marinating and thickening)

water or broth
Instructions
Slice beef thinly, coat with 1 tsp cornstarch and 1 tsp soy sauce, marinate 15 mins. Blanch broccoli 1-2 mins, set aside. Whisk sauce ingredients and set aside.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear beef 1-2 mins, stir, cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan, add remaining oil, stir-fry broccoli 2-3 mins until bright green. Remove and set aside.
Pour sauce into pan, cook 1-2 mins until thickened. Return beef and broccoli, toss to coat, simmer 1 min.
Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, add sliced green onions or sesame seeds before serving.
