Beef and Broccoli

A quick and flavorful stir-fry combining tender beef with crisp broccoli in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain (Coat with 1 tsp cornstarch and 1 tsp soy sauce for marinating)

Vegetables

  • 1 lb broccoli florets, fresh or frozen

Oils & Sauces

  • 2 tbsp vegetable or avocado oil, divided
  • 6 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (Used for marinating and thickening)
  • 1/2 cup water or broth

Instructions 

  • Slice beef thinly, coat with 1 tsp cornstarch and 1 tsp soy sauce, marinate 15 mins. Blanch broccoli 1-2 mins, set aside. Whisk sauce ingredients and set aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear beef 1-2 mins, stir, cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add remaining oil, stir-fry broccoli 2-3 mins until bright green. Remove and set aside.
  • Pour sauce into pan, cook 1-2 mins until thickened. Return beef and broccoli, toss to coat, simmer 1 min.
  • Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add sliced green onions or sesame seeds before serving.
