A hearty and comforting beef pot pie filled with tender steak bites, vegetables, and a savory gravy, all encased in flaky pie crust.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (56 g)
  • 2 pieces pie crusts (1 for top, 1 for bottom)

Filling

  • 2.5 cups marinated steak bites (previously cooked and slightly cooled)
  • 1.5 cups boiled potatoes (diced)
  • 1 cup cooked carrots (sliced)
  • 1 cup peas (frozen, 134 g)
  • 1 cube beef bouillon (crushed)
  • 245 g whole milk
  • 480 g beef broth
  • 62.5 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg (beaten for egg wash)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Melt butter in a skillet, add flour, whisk, and cook 1 minute.
  • Add beef broth, milk, and crushed bouillon; simmer until thickened (~5 min).
  • Mix in peas, carrots, potatoes, and steak bites.
  • Assemble in a 9-inch pie pan: bottom crust, filling, top crust; seal edges, brush with egg, vent, and bake 40-50 min until golden.

Notes

To prevent burning edges, cover crust edges with foil if needed during baking.
