A hearty and flavorful beef chili perfect for cozy nights. Loaded with beans and spices, it's easy to make and sure to satisfy.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef (15% fat)

Vegetables

  • ½ medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

Canned Goods

  • 1 15-oz. pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 15-oz. kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 15-oz. tomato sauce
  • 1 15-oz. diced tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

Spices

  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth (or chicken broth or water)

Toppings

  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fritos
  • green onion

Instructions 

  • Heat a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic; sauté until beef is browned, about 7-10 minutes.
  • Add beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and maple syrup; stir to combine.
  • Stir in spices and broth; bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes to thicken.
  • Serve topped with cheese, Fritos, and green onions. Enjoy!

Notes

For a spicier chili, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper.
