Cajun Shrimp and Rice Skillet Recipe

A flavorful and spicy one-pan dish combining tender shrimp with seasoned rice for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

Rice and Broth

  • 1 ⅓ cups uncooked long grain white rice
  • 2 ⅔ cups chicken broth

Shrimp

  • 1 pound large or jumbo shrimp, peeled and de-veined

Butter and Seasonings

  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted and divided
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 ½ teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions 

  • Mix all Cajun seasonings in a small bowl. Melt 2 tbsp butter in a skillet, add garlic, half of the seasoning, and rice; toast slightly.
  • Add chicken broth, bring to boil, then simmer covered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Mix remaining butter with remaining seasoning; toss shrimp in this mixture.
  • Stir shrimp into rice, cover, and cook 3-5 minutes until shrimp are pink and opaque.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

Ensure shrimp are fully cooked before serving.
