This flavorful Cajun turkey rub adds bold spices and herbs to create a deliciously seasoned centerpiece for your holiday feast.

Ingredients

Spice Mix

  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons fresh oregano
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 13-16 pounds turkey (Weight varies)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • Mix all spices; combine half with softened butter.
  • Remove giblets, pat turkey dry, loosen skin, and spread spice butter under skin.
  • Rub remaining spice butter over turkey, then coat with spice mixture. Cover loosely with foil.
  • Roast for 18-20 mins per pound, uncover and cook until internal temp reaches 165°F (74°C). Rest before carving.

Ensure the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F for safety.
