A delicious and fluffy Dutch baby pancake topped with caramelised apples and cinnamon, perfect for a cozy breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 2/3 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar

Wet ingredients

  • cup milk
  • 3 eggs eggs

Butter for cooking

  • 30 g butter, diced
  • 50 g butter, diced

Apple topping

  • 3 apples Granny Smith apples, peeled (2 cut into wedges, 1 sliced thinly)
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 cinnamon quill cinnamon quill, halved

To serve

  • to taste vanilla bean ice cream and maple syrup

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 240°C/220°C fan-forced and heat a 25cm ovenproof frying pan in the oven.
  • Mix flour and salt, then add milk and eggs; whisk until smooth.
  • Remove hot pan, add butter, swirl to coat, pour batter, and bake for 15-18 minutes until puffed and golden.

Notes

Serve immediately with ice cream and maple syrup for extra indulgence.
