Ingredients

  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for cinnamon sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar)
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (for batter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for batter)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 tablespoon oil (for batter)
  • 4 medium apples (peeled, cored, sliced into ½-inch rings)

Instructions 

  • Pour oil into a deep skillet and heat to 350–375°F. Mix cinnamon sugar in a shallow bowl.
  • Whisk together flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, maple syrup, egg, and oil; whisk until smooth.
  • Peel, core, and slice apples into ½-inch rings. Pat dry.
  • Dip apple rings into batter and fry 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  • Toss fried apple rings in cinnamon sugar and serve.

Notes

Ensure oil temperature is maintained for crispy fritters.
