Ingredients

Sauces and seasonings

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce (preferably Kikkoman Less Sodium)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (toasted sesame oil provides a deeper nutty aroma)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp chili garlic sauce (Huy Fong brand for consistent heat)

Vegetables

  • 1 piece onion (diced into 1/2-inch pieces)
  • 1 piece zucchini (sliced into 1/4-inch half-moons)
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Main protein

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Garnishes and extras

  • to taste green onions
  • to taste red pepper flakes
  • to taste sesame seeds
  • as needed cooked rice

Instructions 

  • Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, water, and chili garlic sauce in a bowl.
  • Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey and cook until browned.
  • Add diced onion and zucchini; cook until vegetables are tender.
  • Pour in sauce mixture and cook until thickened, coating the meat and vegetables.
  • Garnish with green onions, red pepper flakes, and sesame seeds. Serve over cooked rice.

Notes

Adjust seasoning to taste and serve immediately for best flavor.
