Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
Cream butter and sugar until light. Beat in eggs one at a time.
Sift flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Fold into wet ingredients, adding buttermilk if desired.
Stir in chopped apples. Pour batter into the pan and bake for 40-45 minutes.
Serve warm with custard or cream.
Notes
For extra moisture, add a splash of buttermilk to the batter.
