A vibrant and flavorful bowl featuring marinated beef, pickled vegetables, and spicy mayo, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Meat and Marinade

  • 1.1 lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon gochujang, optional for extra heat
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Rice and Pickled Vegetables

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine or short-grain white rice
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 fresh jalapeƱo, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced

Spicy Mayo

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 tablespoons sriracha, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Instructions 

  • Combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt; toss with julienned carrots and let sit for 20 minutes.
  • Whisk soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, sugar, rice vinegar, gochujang, and black pepper; marinate beef for 15-20 minutes.
  • Cook rice and keep warm.
  • Mix mayonnaise, sriracha, and lime juice for spicy mayo.
  • Cook beef in a hot skillet 2-3 minutes per side; assemble bowls with rice, beef, pickled carrots, cucumber, jalapeƱos, green onions, sesame seeds, and drizzle with spicy mayo.

Notes

Adjust spice levels by varying sriracha and gochujang quantities.
