Delight in these rich and buttery maple pecan pie bars, perfect for a sweet treat with a nutty twist.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Filling

  • 6 tablespoons butter (diced)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 2 cups chopped pecans (the smaller you chop them the easier it is to cut the bars)
  • 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional, flaked sea salt) (I prefer flaked sea salt)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the crust by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and salt; press into a baking pan.
  • Bake the crust for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • In a saucepan, melt diced butter, then stir in brown sugar, maple syrup, and milk; cook until smooth.
  • Remove from heat, fold in chopped pecans, and pour over the baked crust.
  • Bake for an additional 15 minutes, then cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle flaked sea salt on top before baking.
