A deliciously seared steak topped with rich garlic butter, perfect for a special dinner.
Ingredients
Steak

pieces
ribeye or sirloin steaks (1-inch thick, about 8 ounces each)

tablespoon
canola oil (or avocado oil)

tablespoons
unsalted butter
3
cloves
garlic (crushed)
1
sprig
fresh thyme (or rosemary)
to taste
salt
to taste
black pepper
to taste
red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Remove the steaks from the refrigerator 30-60 minutes before cooking.
Pat the steaks dry and season with salt and black pepper.
Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat, add oil, and swirl to coat.
Carefully place the steaks in the pan and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side.
Add butter, garlic, and thyme in the last minute, basting the steaks.
Remove from pan and let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Letting the steak rest is crucial for juicy results.
