A warm and flavorful homemade pear cider infused with spices and citrus, perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Fruits and Spices

  • 10 pieces pears (halved)
  • 1 piece orange (sliced)
  • 4 sticks cinnamon sticks (or 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon)
  • 2 teaspoons ground allspice
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 1 pod vanilla bean (split)
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar (loosely packed or white granulated sugar, honey or agave)
  • 10 cups water

Instructions 

  • Place pears and orange slices in a large stockpot, add water, sugar, and spices.
  • Bring to a boil and cook uncovered for 1 hour.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours.
  • Mash the mixture to release juices, then strain to remove solids.

Notes

Adjust sweetness to taste before serving.
