A quick and flavorful dish featuring crispy fried cod coated in a savory teriyaki sauce, perfect for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Protein

  • 150 g cod fillets (or white fish of your choice)
  • 2 tsp Japanese soy sauce (koikuchi shoyu)
  • 2 tsp mirin
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • for frying cooking oil (enough for shallow frying)
  • optional finely chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • optional toasted white sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp Japanese soy sauce (koikuchi shoyu)
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 2 tbsp sake
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp dashi stock (optional, omit if unavailable)
  • 1 tsp honey

Instructions 

  • Marinate cod pieces in soy sauce and mirin for 10 minutes.
  • Coat marinated cod in cornstarch and fry in hot oil until golden, about 2 minutes per side.
  • Prepare sauce by combining soy, mirin, sake, sugar, dashi, and honey; simmer until bubbling.
  • Add fried cod to sauce and cook until thickened, then serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Ensure oil is at the right temperature for crispy results.
