Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
Mix dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, yolk, vanilla, and food coloring; mix well.
Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk to the batter, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Fill liners 2/3 full.
Bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely.
Beat butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth. Frost cooled cupcakes and decorate with sprinkles.
