Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 pound sirloin steak (sliced into thin strips)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Rice

  • 2 cups basmati rice

Tomato Base

  • 14 ounces crushed or diced tomatoes
  • 2 ½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon cube
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin

Seasonings

  • to taste salt and black pepper
  • to taste steak seasoning

Toppings & Sides

  • white cheese sauce white cheese sauce for topping
  • fresh cilantro cilantro for garnish
  • flour tortillas flour tortillas for serving

Instructions 

  • Rinse the rice under cold water until clear.
  • Heat olive oil, cook garlic and onion until soft.
  • Add rice, stir for 2 minutes to toast.
  • Pour in tomatoes and broth, add spices, simmer 20 minutes, then rest 5 minutes.
  • Season steak, sear in butter and oil until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  • Fluff rice, serve topped with steak, cheese sauce, cilantro, with tortillas on the side.

Notes

Use fresh cilantro for best flavor and adjust seasoning to taste.
