Ingredients

Cake Batter

  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.75 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 large egg

Apple Slices

  • 2 medium medium apples washed, peeled, cored and sliced (Red Delicious and Golden Delicious)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Crumb Topping

  • 0.33 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.33 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions 

  • Grease and flour an 8-inch round springform pan. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Mix dry ingredients for the batter and combine with wet ingredients. Pour into prepared pan.
  • Arrange sliced apples on top of batter, then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  • Prepare crumb topping by mixing sugars, cinnamon, salt, melted butter, and flour. Sprinkle over apples.
  • Bake for 45 minutes until golden and cooked through. Cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Red Delicious or Golden Delicious.
