Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp salt

Wet ingredients

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Filling and topping

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch pans.
  • Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
  • Divide batter into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  • Whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Assemble cake: place one layer, spread half the whipped cream, top with strawberries, add second layer, and repeat.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate up to 2 hours.

Notes

For best results, use fresh strawberries and chill the whipped cream before assembling.
