A creamy and comforting dessert made with rice, milk, and vanilla, perfect served warm or chilled.
Ingredients
Rice and Water

short-grain white rice

water

whole milk

granulated sugar

vanilla extract or vanilla bean, split and scraped

butter (optional)

Instructions
Combine rice and water in a saucepan, bring to boil, then simmer 10-15 minutes until water is absorbed.
Stir in milk and sugar, cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened (~20 minutes).
Mix in vanilla extract and butter, stir well.
Spoon into bowls, garnish with cinnamon if desired, and serve warm or chilled.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use a vanilla bean instead of extract.
