Ingredients

Beef Stew Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef stew meat
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 3 pieces carrots, sliced
  • 2 pieces potatoes, cubed
  • 1 piece onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • hollowed-out bread bowls for serving (optional)

Instructions 

  • Brown the beef stew meat in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
  • Stir in tomato paste, thyme, and bay leaf.
  • Pour in red wine, scraping up browned bits.
  • Add beef broth, carrots, and potatoes; bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours; season to taste.

Notes

Serve in hollowed-out bread bowls for a spooky cauldron effect.
